
1. Nature, where life is reproduced and exists, has the right to exist, persist, maintain and regenerate its vital cycles, structure, functions and its processes in evolution. 2. Nature has the right to restoration. 3. The United States will apply precaution and restriction measures in all the activities that can lead to the extinction of species, the destruction of the ecosystems or the permanent alteration of the natural cycles.
I think rights for non-persons is not workable. This will raise endless issues of whom should be empowered to "represent" nature--people will be doing that, and who chooses the representatives?
We live in a closed system. You can’t get away from your pollution in a closed system. It only moves around.
Our lives depend on a health environment. No one can survive long without food, water, or air. Our viability as a species must consider the impact to the environment. Our nation and our land deserve that level of respect as well.
